Encouragement for

March 2019

"Jesus answered them, 'Do you now believe? Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.'"

Even though the disciples, Jesus' dearest friends, would soon flee from him as he was arrested, he wouldn't be alone. He knew he would not become alone because he was sure that God the Father would remain right by his side. He knew this was a truth and held tightly to it even though he was put in a situation where it could've very easily slipped through his fingers. We have the same exact access to the Father and his great love/support because of Jesus' sacrifice and resurrection. We now, 2019 years later, have this connection to the Father and Jesus through Holy Spirit. At any moment we may converse with God being as authentic as we allow ourselves. (I've noticed the more authentic I am in talking with him, the better my heart is no matter what the circumstances are. This isn't surprising because it works the same way with any friendship, every friend desires that you let them in on your life: the good, the bad, and the ugly, otherwise there's no intimacy and intimacy is what grows the friendship.)

So friends, take heart, Jesus can give you peace in calamity, victory in trials, but it's up to you to press in and activate it. If you don't believe me read those last two sentences of scripture: "...that in Me you may have peace". He didn't say "...that in Me you may have peace only in good circumstances", that you may have crazy, unexplained, irrational, Jesus-style type of peace in ALL circumstances, good and bad. Jesus already did all the work, he has "overcome the world". That means we can overcome ANY and ALL situations, feelings, illnesses, wounds, bondage, addictions, accusations, and discouraging words through Jesus. Romans 8:37 backs this up saying, "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us."

Sons and daughters, be of GOOD COURAGE Jesus has overcome the world, so if we reach into his victory, we can overcome as well. Rise up, dust yourself off. Ask help where you need it from God and others chasing after God, and then stand firm and thank him for it even if you don't see it coming just yet. Have faith! Stand firm. Be stubborn in not moving from that faith. Do not waver. You can do this, His grace is enough for you, I promise. Be fiercely authentic and equally as fierce in your thanksgiving. He is a good Papa! He is for you.
